Elon Musk Announces New Twitter Changes: Tweets Require Login to Prevent Data Theft 2-July-2023

In the wake of billionaire Elon Musk's acquisition, Twitter has undergone various innovative transformations. On Friday, Twitter introduced yet another significant change: all tweets can now only be accessed by logging in to the platform. This means that individuals wishing to view someone's tweets must open a Twitter account and log in, as Elon Musk described it as a temporary emergency measure. According to Musk, the previous feature allowed excessive data theft on Twitter, which he found insulting to ordinary users.
Musk has expressed his dissatisfaction with various platforms, including OpenAI, the maker of Chat GPT, regarding the use of Twitter data. There were allegations that Twitter data was being utilized to train chatbots, including Chat GPT. It is worth noting that Twitter recently started charging third-party apps and researchers for their application programming interfaces.

Twitter Introduces Video Download Feature
Twitter has launched a new feature that allows users to download videos directly from the platform. Under this feature, a download video option has been added, enabling users to download videos without relying on third-party apps or websites. However, this feature is currently being tested and is only available to a limited number of users. Nima Owji, a Twitter user and app researcher, shared a screenshot of the feature and provided information about it. He stated that Twitter is also working on a video download button feature that can be enabled or disabled by users. It is anticipated that Twitter will soon make this feature available to all users. Furthermore, Twitter recently announced the upcoming launch of a new video app.
Twitter Expands Character Limit and Text Formatting Options
Twitter has increased the maximum character limit for tweets to 25,000. Users can now compose tweets with up to 25,000 characters, including numbers, letters, and symbols. Additionally, photos can be added to these extended tweets. However, this feature is exclusively available to Twitter Blue subscription users who pay a monthly fee.
The announcement of this new feature was made by the company through a tweet, and Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, responded by stating that long-form posts have been enhanced. Previously, in April of the previous year, Twitter had extended the character limit to 10,000 for users with paid verification badges, while the limit for regular users remained at 280 characters. Alongside the increased character limit, Twitter has also introduced another significant change, allowing users to format their text by making it bold, italicized, and more.

Content Monetization for Creators
Elon Musk launched the Creators Content Monetization feature in April last year. During content monetization, creators receive the full revenue share for 12 months, with Twitter taking a share thereafter. Users can earn money from their followers by providing valuable tweet content.
Currently, creators can sell subscriptions to their followers for $2.99, $4.99, and $9.99 per month. Twitter's rules stipulate that creators must be at least 18 years old and have a minimum of 10,000 active followers. Account monetization requires a minimum of 25 tweets in the last 30 days. At present, Twitter's monetization feature is only available in the United States. This new feature aligns with Twitter's Super Follows, which was introduced in 2021.
